Framlingham’s hot on the heels to become latest parkrun venue
Framlingham’s the latest area to be included as a parkrun venue in Suffolk. The town joins a list of other areas across Suffolk including Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Brandon, Great Cornard and Haverhill.
Parkruns are free, weekly events organised by local volunteer teams in over 750 locations across the UK. Several parkruns have teamed up with local GP practices to be called parkrun practices.
A parkrun practice makes a commitment to promoting local parkrun events to patients, supporting the UK-wide movement to scale up physical activities.
Dr Mark Shenton, Chair of the Ipswich and East Suffolk CCG, said: “Undertaking more exercise brings so many benefits to people. These include reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke and Type 2 diabetes.
“I am delighted that Framlingham is the latest area in Suffolk to host a parkrun and I would very much like to encourage everyone in that area to get out, meet new people and participate in the run.”
