Plan sets out how we will work together
Details of how health and care organisations across Suffolk and North East Essex will work together to provide services for local people have been published. The Operational Plan 2019/2020 summarises the next steps in the journey as the local health and care system seeks to become an Integrated Care System. It describes how partners will continue to work in neighbourhoods and across the whole system in providing services for the one million people who live within the system’s area.
Susannah Howard, Programme Director for the ICS, said: “In Suffolk and North East Essex we have been able to work effectively as a local health and care system because of a shared vision that we need to align our efforts if we are to do the best that we can for local people. System working can be difficult at times – but we all know that the best relationships take time and effort. We are committed to continuing to grow together as we implement this plan.”
The plan stipulates that the ICS will work closely with local Health and Wellbeing Boards to ensure our aligned efforts and delivery drive improvements in the health and care outcomes for local people.
Dr Ed Garratt, Chief Officer NHS North East Essex CCG (interim), NHS Ipswich & East Suffolk CCG and NHS West Suffolk CCG, said: “We are moving away from separate commissioning and provision functions; increasingly we make collective decisions around resources in our Alliance systems. We believe this will drive better outcomes for our local population and make a best use of taxpayers’ money.”
